Flying with Scandinavian Airlines
Founded in 1946 and with headquarters in the Swedish city of Solna, Scandinavian Airlines is the largest airline in the whole of Scandinavia and the national flag carrier of Sweden, Norway and Denmark. A founding member of the prestigious Star Alliance, Scandinavian Airlines operates 182 aircraft servicing 90 destinations worldwide. Winner of the Grand Travel Award for “Europe's Best Airline” in 2014 and 2015, Scandinavian Airline’s route network covers popular tourist hotspots across Europe, Asia, North America, Africa and The Middle East. In 2014, over 29 million passengers flew with Scandinavian Airlines at an average load factor of more than 76%. The airline’s fleet of 182 aircraft consists of Airbus A319s, A320s, A321s, A330s, A340s, Boeing 737 Next Generations, and Bombardier CRJ900 aircrafts. Online check-in
- Online check-in for all available Scandinavian Airlines routes opens 22 hours before the scheduled departure and closes 1 hour before take-off. Online check-in is not available for flights departing from the following destinations: Alanya, Bucharest, Bastia, Cagliari, Faro, Larnaca, Lisbon, Malta, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Pisa, Pula and Tenerife.
- Scandinavian Airlines online check-in services allow passengers flying to the USA and UK to enter important passenger travel information such as passport and visa details. Passengers flying to European destinations need only their flight booking reference to check-in online.
- Passengers checking in online are able to select their preferred seat on board the flight during the check-in process.
- Passengers flying with checked luggage are encouraged to check in at the airport using the check-in kiosks provided.
- Airport check-in desks are available for all destinations and are free to use.
Cabin luggage allowance
- The maximum permitted dimensions for cabin luggage on Scandinavian Airlines flights are 55cm x 40cm x 23cm. This includes wheels, handles and external pockets.
- The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 8kg.
- 1 piece of cabin luggage baggage is allowed per person on any Scandinavian Airlines flight. In addition to this allowance, all passengers are allowed to bring a handbag, a bag of Duty-Free shopping or a small laptop bag on board for free. Passengers flying to destinations in the USA or Asia are permitted 2 items of cabin luggage.
- Infants aged less than 2 years are not entitled to any cabin luggage.
Checked baggage allowance
- The maximum permitted size of checked baggage for Scandinavian flights must not exceed 158cm. This includes wheels, handles and external pockets.
- The standard maximum check baggage weight for all Scandinavian Airlines flights is 23kg, though this can be increased to 32kg for a fee. Any 1 item of checked baggage weighing in excess of 32kg will not be permitted on board.
- Passengers can purchase a maximum of 2 items of checked baggage for their flight.
- Infants under 2 years of age are permitted 1 piece of checked baggage weighing up to 23kg with maximum dimensions of 115cm. In addition to this a stroller or carrycot can be checked free of charge.
